MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. – Lees-McRae men's basketball opened the new year with a 97-82 loss to Conference Carolinas foe Mount Olive on Saturday.
Ja'Quavian Florence led four Bobcats in double figures with 20 points on the day.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Travis Pourciau opened the game with a dunk off the tip-off, but Mount Olive used a 9-2 run for the 28-21 lead. The Bobcats cut the deficit back to four at the end of the first half, 44-40.
- Lees-McRae tied the contest on a layup from Florence at 44-44, but Mount Olive went on a 5-0 run. The Trojans picked up their fourth league victory of the season with the 97-82 win on their home floor.
- Florence recorded his 11th consecutive game to start the season with 10 or more points with 20 points on Saturday. Pourciau followed with 10 points, seven rebounds, and four blocks. Dre Nelson and Matthew Knafelz added 10 points apiece in today's game.
FOR THE TROJANS:
- Chase Dawson had a game-high 23 points on 10-20 shooting for Mount Olive. Matt Kirby and Lureon Walker registered 20 points each for the Trojans.
