Nadiya Hairston led all scorers with a season-high 22 points as Lees-McRae women's basketball opened Conference Carolinas play with a 62-58 win over Chowan this afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Sandra Mason started the contest with a made jumper 48 seconds into today's game. Sydney Gueterman followed with a made basket to give the Bobcats the 4-0 lead.
- Braelyn Stilwell collected a layup as Lees-McRae led 12-6 at the end of the first quarter.
- Chowan gained the lead at 21-19 with 4:05 left in the first half, but the Bobcats bounced back and regained the advantage at 26-25. Stilwell connected on a three-pointer for the 29-26 lead at the halftime break.
- Lees-McRae pushed its lead to nine points after finishing the third quarter on a 14-4 run.
- Chowan cut the deficit within two in the fourth quarter, but Layla Tillery knocked down two key free throws for the Bobcats' 62-58 win.
- Hairston led the Bobcats with 22 points on 6-10 shooting and 4-6 from three-point range. Hairston also tallied four assists, three rebounds, and one steal. Lee joined Hairston in double-digit scoring with 11 points off the bench.
- Kaylee Carson and Stilwell recorded nine points apiece in today's win. The Bobcats went 17-48 (35.4%) from the floor with five made three-pointers and 23-27 from the free-throw line.
