BANNER ELK, N.C. – Lees-McRae College Director of Cycling
Tim Hall announced the signing of Laura Mengelkoch to the 2026-27 class for the women's cycling program.
Mengelkoch is from Gainesville, Florida where she is a two-time second place Florida state champion and primarily races in Mountain Bike Cross Country.
"My first experience with Lees-McRae was during a family trip to Banner Elk when I was younger —I even swam at Wildcat Lake," said Mengelkoch. "What really sealed it for me was meeting coaches Tim and Kaysee (Armstrong), and seeing their impact on the team. I'm choosing coaches who I believe will push me to the next level in biking and help crush my goals. Beyond athletics, Lees-McRae offers the kind of environment that will set me up for success after graduation — not just as an athlete, but in life."
At Lees-McRae, Mengelkoch will major in Exercise Science.
