BANNER ELK, N.C. – Lees-McRae men's basketball earned a 84-76 Conference Carolinas win over "Battle for the Blue Ridge Cup" opponent King on Saturday on the McNair & Debi Tornow Court.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- King jumped out to an early eight-point lead in the first five minutes of the game. The Bobcats chipped away at the lead and tied the contest at 20-20 after a fastbreak dunk from Chase McDuffie.
- Lees-McRae took the lead at 23-22 after a three-pointer from Kenny Vera. Vera knocked in another three at the 8:40 mark of the first half for the 26-24 lead. The Bobcats pushed their lead to six at the halftime break via a three-pointer from Dwight Canady.
- King cut the lead down to one point with 16:25 to play, but Lees-McRae moved its lead back to nine points at the 14:52 mark of the second half.
- King continued to move within one point multiple times down the stretch, but the Bobcats prevailed in the 84-76 win over the Tornado.
- Canady led the Bobcats with 18 points off the bench and added six rebounds and three assists. McDuffie had 16 points in 27 minutes off the bench and added five rebounds and four steals. Daniel Agu followed with 14 points and Cedric Patterson rounded out the Bobcats in double-digit scoring with 10 points.
