Shorter Defeats Women's Basketball, 81-60, in Conference Carolinas Play

BANNER ELK, N.C. – Emily Barr registered her second double-double of the season, but Lees-McRae women's basketball fell to Shorter, 81-60, in Conference Carolinas play.

FINAL SCORE: Lees-McRae – 60; Shorter – 81
LOCATION: McNair & Debi Tornow Court – Banner Elk, North Carolina
RECORDS: Lees-McRae (5-12/3-10), Shorter (15-3/10-2)

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Shorter had a 9-4 lead off free-throw makes from Amya Patterson with 6:16 to play in the first quarter. The Hawks led by 10 at the end of the first period.
  • Shorter added to its lead in the second quarter after starting the quarter on a 15-0 run. Barr stopped the scoring run with a jumper at the two-minute mark. The Hawks led by 23 at the end of the first half.
  • Shorter earned the 81-60 win on Saturday afternoon in Conference Carolinas action.
  • Barr led the Bobcats with 17 points and 10 rebounds in today's contest. Shayne Burton and Kirsten Watt contributed 10 points apiece.

FOR THE HAWKS:
  • Patterson paced the Hawks with 15 points and 13 boards in the win. Ariyah Brooks, Tori Smiley, and Tiara Lewis joined Patterson in double-digit scoring.
