BANNER ELK, N.C. – Lees-McRae College Director of Cycling
Tim Hall announced the signing of Lela Young to the 2025-26 class for the women's cycling program.
Young comes to Banner Elk from Alburtis, Pennsylvania where she races for Kelly Benefits Strategies in track and road. Young plans to focus on track cycling and road cycling for the Lees-McRae cycling program.
"After researching colleges that could support both my special education goals and cycling interests, Lees-McRae was the clear choice," said Young. "The gorgeous campus' stonework buildings created the perfect learning environment I was seeking. The small class sizes off the personalized attention I thrive in. What really set Lees-McRae apart was how cycling is a deep part of the campus culture. Being able to pursue my athletic passion while earning my special education degree made Lees-McRae the ideal fit for both my academic and personal goals."
At Lees-McRae, Young plans to study Special Education with a minor in Business.
