SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Lees-McRae men's soccer fell to Converse, 3-2, in Conference Carolinas Northwest Division play on Wednesday evening after the Valkyries recorded the go-ahead goal in the 87th minute.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Converse opened the scoring in the 21st minute off a goal from Jacob Bandel. The Valkyries led 1-0 heading into the halftime break.
- Karim Gegg knotted the match at one goal apiece off a set piece by the Bobcats and was assisted by Conor O'Gorman in the 52nd minute.
- The Valkyries grabbed the lead once again in the 68th minute off a goal from Guilherme Fontes.
- Lees-McRae continued to pressure the Valkyries in the second half and tied the contest in the 84th minute off a free-kick goal from Gegg.
- Converse broke the hearts of the Bobcats in the 87th minute off a goal via a corner kick and the Valkyries earned the 3-2 win on Wednesday night.
- The Valkyries held the shots on goal advantage, 6-5, but the Bobcats had the shots advantage with 16 to Converse's 15 in the match. Converse had 12 corner kicks to the Bobcats' 1 in the 90 minutes of action.
