Women's Basketball Records 75-64 Win at UNCP

PEMBROKE, N.C. – Kaylee Carson recorded her ninth game with 20 or more points on the season as Lees-McRae women's basketball picked up a 75-64 Conference Carolinas victory at UNC Pembroke this evening.

RECORDS: Lees-McRae (17-6/13-4); UNCP (10-13/10-6)

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Lees-McRae used a 14-0 scoring run to take a commanding 20-6 lead in the first quarter and led by 10 at the end of the opening 10 minutes.
  • UNCP cut the deficit to five points off a layup from Camille Kerridge, but Carson answered with a layup at the other end of the court. The Bobcats regained the 10-point advantage and went into halftime with the 35-23 lead.
  • Sandra Mason connected on a three-pointer with 7:37 to play in the third quarter as the Bobcats led 41-25. UNCP made another run and trailed by three with four minutes to play in the third period. The Bobcats regained the momentum and headed into the fourth quarter with the 53-44 margin.
  • Lees-McRae continued to hold the lead throughout the final quarter and Braelyn Stilwell put the game out of reach with free throws late. The Bobcats earned the 75-64 victory on the road at UNCP.
  • Carson led all scorers with 24 points on 10-17 shooting and hauled in four rebounds and two steals. Nadiya Hairston followed with 15 points in 40 minutes and Gueterman finished the contest with 12 points, four rebounds, and four steals. Stilwell rounded out the Bobcats in double-digit scoring with 10 points in 12 minutes off the bench.
  • Lees-McRae shot 25-56 (44.6%) from the field with five three-pointers and 20-23 from the free-throw line. The Bobcats scored 32 points off 24 UNCP turnovers.
