BANNER ELK, N.C. – Lees-McRae women's lacrosse made its season debut on Monday afternoon on Tate Field against Tennessee Wesleyan. The Bobcats fell to the Bulldogs, 14-11.
Taylor Murrell led the Bobcats with four goals and two assists in the contest.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Madison Deffenbaugh evened the game at 1-1 with a goal at the 9:44 mark of the first quarter. Courtney Bednarz and Murrell gave Lees-McRae the 3-2 advantage with back-to-back goals.
- TWU took the 5-3 advantage in the second quarter, but Lees-McRae tied the game at five goals with two consecutive goals from Murrell.
- The two sides continued to battle throughout the third quarter and Lees-McRae held the 8-7 lead into the fourth quarter.
- Tennessee Wesleyan scored four consecutive goals for the 13-9 advantage and held off the Bobcats for the 14-11 win in the season opener.
- Murrell had a game-high four goals and tallied two assists in the contest. Bednarz and Madison Primeau registered two goals apiece.
- Bailee Lizza made 11 saves in goal and Bednarz collected five draw controls today. Crystal Johnson picked up four ground balls and added one goal and one assist in the game.

Lees-McRae faces Greensboro on Thursday, February 12 in Greensboro, North Carolina. The game is scheduled for a 4 p.m. start.
