Jamie McQuaker Named Men’s and Women’s Golf Coach at Lees-McRae

BANNER ELK, N.C. – Lees-McRae College Director of Athletics and Club Sports Ed Winters announced the hiring of Jamie McQuaker as the Head Men's and Women's Golf Coach for the Bobcat programs. McQuaker comes to Lees-McRae after serving as the head coach of the Southern Union State Community College from 2020 to 2022.

At Southern Union State, McQuaker was responsible for both the men's and women's golf programs while coordinating additional resources for incoming student-athletes including strength and conditioning programs, workout and practice facilities, and accessibility to campus sports medicine staff. McQuaker also helped the programs secure their home course of Robert Trent Jones Grand National in Opelika, Alabama.

I look forward to starting the recruiting process and building programs that contribute to the success of Bobcat Athletics."

In 2021-22, McQuaker and Southern Union earned its first trip to the NJCAA tournamen and placed fourth overall. McQuaker mentored Kate Herrod and Kenny Okins, who qualified for the individual national championships in 2022. The men's team saw a national ranking of 19th and the women's team recorded a national ranking of 13th in the season. The men's team were recognized as the NJCAA Alabama Community College Conference Champions in 2022-23 and the women's team earned the status of NJCAA National Qualifier and NJCAA District Runner-up.
 
McQuaker graduated from Columbus State University in Columbus, Georgia where he was a part of the men's golf team and the 2003 Peach Belt Conference Champions. He was part of the second-place team in the NJCAA National Championship at Midland, Texas in 1999 and was a member of the Scotland U-18 team from 1995-1997.
