Men's Volleyball Falls in Semifinals of Conference Carolinas Men's Volleyball Championship

BELMONT, N.C. – Davide Nicolini, Conference Carolinas Freshman of the Year, tallied a match-high nine kills in the Conference Carolinas Men's Volleyball Championship Semifinals against No. 2 Mount Olive. The Bobcats fell to UMO in three sets.

FINAL SCORE: No. 2 Mount Olive def. No. 3 Lees-McRae, 3-0 (25-15, 25-22, 25-19)
LOCATION: Wheeler Center – Belmont, North Carolina
RECORDS: No. 2 Mount Olive (15-8/11-3); No. 3 Lees-McRae (13-16/7-7)

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • UMO used a hitting percentage of .353 in the first and held a .270 hitting percentage in the match for the 3-0 win over Lees-McRae.
  • The Bobcats held tough in the second set and held the 19-18 lead late in the set. Mount Olive gained the 23-22 lead and 24-22 advantage off a service error. The Trojans won the set off with a kill from Jackson Lahey.
  • Mount Olive hit .263 with nine kills and earned the 25-19 set score.
  • Nicolini had nine kills on a .200 hitting percentage. Jaylen Tolliver collected six kills on an impressive .667 hitting percentage.
  • Abdirahman Ahmed distributed 11 assists and Thiago Da Silva had eight assists in one set played. Ben Ratliff-Becher tallied six digs in the match.
