Seth Lowther

Lowther is set to begin his fourth season as LMC's assistant men's soccer coach in the fall of 2019.

“Having someone with Seth’s experience and character has me excited about the future of our men’s soccer program,” praised McPhail. “In meeting with him, I was energized by his passion for people, the caring spirit is something our young men will benefit greatly from and I am most encouraged by seeing him and Coach (Rich) Wall lead our team.”

Lowther holds a deep knowledge of Conference Carolinas and the Southeast Region after serving as the assistant men’s soccer coach at Belmont Abbey from June 2008 to Nov. 2014. He was responsible for providing professional assistance to the head coach and adhering to the goals and mission of BAC and the men’s soccer program by recruiting, scheduling, scouting, on-field coaching, team travel, game administration, BAC and NCAA compliance, academic monitoring and match analysis.

"I'm delighted to have Seth join the men's soccer coaching staff. His contributions to the program will be positive, and help restore a necessary balance that was missing a season ago,” said Wall. “He's already making an impact with our goalkeepers, and I'm excited about the current trajectory of the men's soccer program."

While at BAC, he promoted community involvement and worked closely with the alumni base to cultivate their involvement with the college. He served as an advocate of sportsmanship by teaching values that reflect positively on individual and team participation.

He led the men’s reserve program for the Crusaders while establishing the team in 2009. Lowther was responsible for all operational aspects.

Lowther served as the director of goalkeeping at the Gaston United Soccer Club from the spring of 2010 to Nov. 2014. He oversaw and provided training to all goalkeepers while distributing evaluations of progress throughout the year.

Since 2008, he has been a personal goalkeeper trainer and has led the likes of Sean O’Connor, Brian Alenky and Jonathon Davis. Davis was a U14 U.S. National Team goalkeeper.

Lowther graduated in May 2008 with a sports management degree from BAC while playing for its men’s soccer program. He garnered CVAC all-conference honorable mention in 2006 while posting four shutouts in his four-year career. In 2007, he posted a 1.09 goals against average; which was 43rd best in the country.

“I am incredibly excited about the great opportunity to work with Lees-McRae College and the men’s soccer program. It is such an honor and privilege serving a very well-respected and successful program in the NCAA Division II Southeast Region,” said Lowther. “I want to thank Craig McPhail and Rich Wall for the invitation to join the family here at Lees-McRae. The potential here is outstanding and I’m looking forward to what the future holds.”
