Taylor Morton was named Head Men’s Soccer Coach at Lees-McRae College on May 3, 2022, by Vice President for Athletics and Club Sports Craig McPhail after serving as an assistant coach on former head coach Shane Calvert’s staff since 2020. Morton enters his third season leading the Bobcats after helping guide the program to a semifinal appearance in the 2025 Conference Carolinas Men’s Soccer Championship tournament.
Since joining the coaching staff, Morton has played an integral role in all aspects of the program, including coordinating pre-game preparations, in-game tactical decision-making, developing scouting reports, recruiting both domestically and internationally, and managing team travel logistics. Under his leadership, the Bobcats have continued to build on the program’s competitive tradition within Conference Carolinas.
Prior to returning to the High Country, Morton gained NCAA Division I coaching experience as a volunteer assistant coach at UNC Greensboro, where he helped the Spartans capture the Southern Conference regular-season title and advance to the conference championship match. In addition to serving as the primary camp director and organizer, Morton assisted with tactical preparation, match analysis, and scouting responsibilities.
Morton also spent one season as an assistant coach at Barton College, contributing to all facets of the program, including recruiting and scouting report development. A former Bobcat student-athlete, Morton competed for Lees-McRae from 2013-17, appearing in 65 matches as a key defender while helping the program reach four consecutive Conference Carolinas postseason tournaments.
