Blake Smith was named Assistant Athletic Director and Director of Sports Information at Lees-McRae College on August 16, 2022, by Vice President for Athletics and Club Sports Craig McPhail. Smith joined the Bobcat athletic department from Fairmont State University, where he served as Sports Information Director and primary media contact for 17 NCAA Division II athletic programs.

At Fairmont State, Smith oversaw a wide range of communications and multimedia responsibilities, including graphic design production, game-day statistics, and broadcasting through BlueFrame Technology. He also managed updates to the department’s SIDEARM Sports website and played a key role in promoting student-athlete achievements, including CoSIDA Academic All-Americans, All-Mountain East Conference selections, and multiple All-Atlantic Region honorees.

Prior to his tenure at Fairmont State, Smith served as Sports Information Director at Alderson Broaddus University, where he was the primary communications contact for 24 NCAA Division II athletic programs. After beginning as Assistant Sports Information Director following his graduation from James Madison University with a degree in Statistics, he was promoted to director, overseeing the institution’s SIDEARM Sports website and leading its broadcasting and content production initiatives.

Smith brings extensive experience in athletic communications, digital media, and statistical operations to Lees-McRae, where he continues to support the growth and visibility of Bobcat Athletics.
