The Lees-McRae College Lady Bobcats soccer team traveled to King
College Monday afternoon for a non-conference match up against the
Lady Tornado. The home side would pull out a 2-0 victory, evening
the Lady Bobcats record at 4-4 (1-1 CVAC).
Mary Alice Rowney got the home side on the board first, crossing
a ball to teammate Jena Rickard who fooled Lady Bobcats keeper
Anita Hekman (pictured) when she connected with a header for the
1-0 lead in the 30th minute. Rickard then assisted on a goal by
Lindsey Cobb from 12 yards out, five minutes later. The Lady
Tornado continued to press the Lady Bobcats defense in the second
half but were unable to solve Hekman a third time.
The Lady Bobcats will host Carolinas-Virginia Athletic
Conference rival Coker College at Tate Field, Saturday at
2:00p.m.
