The Lees-McRae College Lady Bobcats hosted Barton College Lady
Bulldogs at Williams Gymnasium, cruising to a 3-0 win in
Carolinas-Virginia Athletic Conference action Tuesday evening.
The team's battled point for point for much of the first game
before the Lady Bobcats pulled away towards the end, winning
30-20. In game two, the Lady Bulldogs seemed to swing some of the
momentum gained in game one; however the Lady Bobcat's depth and
experience allowed them to squeeze out a 32-30 win. In game three,
the Lady Bobcats were all business as they cruised to a 30-18 win
to sweep the visitors 3-0. The Lady Bobcats hitters combined for a
.370 hitting percentage in game three.
Preseason AVCA All American Lacie Smith led the Lady Bobcats
attack with a match high 16 kills while also contributing 10 digs,
4 block assists and one block solo. Dani Usedom led the Lady
Bobcats with a match high 12 digs while Trisha Reese and Lauren
Dickover shared the setting duties, posting 18 and 17
respectively. Dickover also added 4 service aces. Preseason AVCA
All American Amanda Huffaker contributed 7 block assists for the
Lady Bobcats.
The Lady Bulldogs received a match high 26 assists from Hallie
Fuller, who also added 10 digs, while Michelle Walker tied Usedom
with the match high in digs with 12. Keauna Vinson led the Lady
Bulldogs attack with 10 kills while also adding 2 block assists and
2 block solos.
The Lady Bobcats improve to 11-6 (3-1 CVAC) with the win, while
the Lady Bulldogs fall to 5-8 (2-5 CVAC).
The Lady Bobcats will resume CVAC play this weekend on the road
at Converse and Belmont Abbey.
