The Lees-McRae Lady Bobcats volleyball team traveled to Converse
College to take on the All-Stars in Carolinas-Virginia Athletic
Conference action Friday evening, emerging with their third
straight 3-0 sweep, their third consecutive victory.
The first game saw both teams going for point for point. Tied
at 21, Lady Bobcats outside hitter Tiarra Pendleton went down with
an injury, re-aggravating an ankle injury from earlier this
season. The All Stars took advantage with the loss of one of the
Lady Bobcats starters to pull ahead 26-24. The Lady Bobcats would
pull even at 28, block for point 29 and finished with a service ace
to win game one 30-28. Game two was controlled from start to
finish with the Lady Bobcats winning 30-22. The third game saw the
Lady Bobcats pull ahead 18-9, only to have the All Stars chip away
and cut the lead to four. With the Lady Bobcats holding match
point, 29-24, the All Stars regained momentum going on a four point
run, before the Lady Bobcats emerged with the 30-28 win, and a
three game sweep.
Preseason AVCA All America Lacie Smith led the attack for the
Lady Bobcats with 13 kills while also adding 6 digs. Daviana Metti
(pictured) added 8 kills and 7 digs while Trisha Reese and Lauren
Dickover contributed 14 and 9 assists respectively. Dickover and
Metti also put up 4 and 3 service aces each.
The Lady Bobcats improve to 12-6 overall (4-1 CVAC), and will
return to CVAC action Saturday afternoon at Belmont Abbey.
