ANDERSON, SC - Senior Daviana Metti (Cordoba Argentina) picked
up a career match high 28 kills while adding 18 digs and a pair of
service aces to lead the Lees-McRae Lady Bobcats to a 3-2 win over
the Anderson University Lady Trojans. The Lady Bobcats improve to
17-11 overall and 11-3 in Conference Carolinas play while Anderson
falls to 15-16, (10-5).
The Lady Trojans came out ready to play, taking game one 30-20
before the Lady Bobcats stormed back to take a five point game two
win, 30-25. The Lady Trojans responded by taking game three 30-16
before the nine time Conference Champions earned back to back wins
in games four and five, 30-27, and 15-13, to steal the road
win.
Freshman Kell Bogdan (Leawood, KS) earned her second career
thirty dig game, picking up a career high 37 digs. Lauren Dickover
(Las Vegas, NV) also established a new career high, picking up 58
assists in the come from behind win.
Anderson was led by Leanna Willis, who had 24 kills and 13 digs,
while Amanda Edwards and Jamie Lancaster had 18 kills apiece.
Lindsay Doggett had a match high 67 assists for the Lady
Trojans.
"Anderson played some super ball tonight; in a tough fight like
this, someone has to win. We were fortunate converting some good
defensive plays into points that final game," commented Head Coach
Jamie Petrik. "I have tremendous respect for Anderson. I think we
will see them again in the conference championships - and if they
bring their A game, they will be a very tough team to beat."
The Lady Bobcats will resume Conference Carolinas play Saturday
afternoon at Converse College.
