BANNER ELK, NC--The host Lees-McRae Lady Bobcats volleyball team
split a pair of games Friday in the second annual Fall Classic at
Williams Gymnasium, falling to Anderson University while besting
Francis Marion University. The Lady Bobcats record now stands at
13-9 (8-2 Conference Carolinas).
In the Lady Bobcats first game of the day, Conference Carolinas
foe Anderson University handed the Lady Bobcats their second
conference loss of the season. After winning game one 30-20, the
Bobcats allowed the visiting Lady Trojans three straight wins to
snap the Lady Bobcats three match winning streak.
Senior Daviana Metti (Cordoba, Argentina) led the Lady Bobcats
offensively with 20 kills with a .348 hitting percentage.
Classmate Caty Honey (Geneva, IL) added ten kills while freshman
Whitney Kiser (Connelly Springs, NC) was credited with 12 kills and
a trio of service aces. Defensively freshman Kell Bogdan (Leawood,
KS) registered 18 digs while classmate Tracey Copley (Virginia
Beach, VA) picked up 15. Sophomore setter Lauren Dickover (Las
Vegas, NV) set a new career high with 55 assists while also picking
up 11 digs.
Metti would better her match one performance by one, recording
21 kills in a 3-2 win over Francis Marion. Kiser was good for 12
for the second straight game while Honey and junior Natalie Burns
(Orlando, FL) contributed six each. Bogdan led the way on the
defensive side of the ball, as the libero picked up a career high
20 digs while Copley, Metti and senior Dani Usedom (Geneva, IL)
contributed 11. Dickover handled setting duties at the net,
picking up 48 assists as well as ten digs.
The Lady Bobcats will be back in action tomorrow, facing UNC-
Pembroke at 9:00am and taking on Lander University at 1:30pm.
