BANNER ELK, NC--The Lees-McRae College Lady Bobcats volleyball
team split their pair of games for the second day in a row at the
Fall Classic, falling 3-1 to UNC-Pembroke and defeating Lander
University 3-2. The Lady Bobcats record now stands at 14-10 (8-2
Conference Carolinas).
Senior Daviana Metti (Cordoba, Argentina) led the way
offensively against UNCP with 17 kills while freshman Whitney Kiser
(Connelly Springs, NC) and junior Natalie Burns (Orlando, FL)
contributed 13 respectively. Freshman Kell Bogdan (Leawood, KS)
would lead the way defensively for the Bobcats, registering a
career match high 30 digs. Sophomore Lauren Dickover (Las Vegas,
NV) chipped in 17 digs while also registering 52 assists.
In their second match of the day, the Bobcats dropped games one
and four before earning the six point 15-9 win in the deciding
fifth game. Metti (Cordoba, Argentina) buried 26 kills hitting
.357 while freshman Whitney Kiser (Connelly Springs, NC) recorded a
career match high 20 kills and hit .300 to pace the Lady Bobcats
attack. Bogdan would again post a team high in digs with 18 while
Dickover and Metti added 14 and 12 respectively. For the second
straight game, Dickover would pick up 52 assists, three short of
her career match high.
The Lady Bobcats will conclude a seven game home stand Tuesday
evening when they face Conference Carolinas foe Barton College at
Williams Gymnasium. Match time is scheduled for 7:00pm.
