The Greensboro College Pride doubled the Lees-McRae College
Bobcats, 19-8, Wednesday afternoon in men's lacrosse
non-conference action. The Bobcats remain winless this season,
falling to 0-9.
Kyle Ficken put the Bobcats on the board first just 36 seconds
into the contest. The Pride answered back just a minute and a half
later, igniting a 6-0 run in just over four minutes. The Bobcats
would answer back with three of their own, while the Pride would
score once more in the quarter to lead 7-4 after one.
A back and forth second saw the Pride bury three to the Bobcats
two to hold a four goal edge at the half. The Pride would use home
field advantage to its fullest, out scoring the Bobcats 7-0 in the
third quarter to take full control of the game, coasting to their
second win of the season, improving to 2-5.
Andrew Carey led the Pride with five goals and an assist while
Brian Butterworth picked up three goals and a pair of assists.
Neal McKinney and Gianni Gigante each buried a pair of goals, with
seven others scoring singles to round out the scoring for the home
side. McKinney also registered a pair of assists.
Ficken, (pictured top left), recorded his third straight multi
point game, scoring a pair and assisting on a goal by Jason
Schafhauser. Schafhauser extended his goal scoring streak to six
games with his team leading 14th of the season. Tyler Stieber led
the Bobcats with a team high three goals while Chandler Kirven and
Matt Markey, burying his first collegiate goal, each picked up
singles.
The Bobcats host a key Carolinas-Virginia Athletic Conference
game against Belmont Abbey Saturday evening. Game time is set for
6:00pm.
