The Lees-McRae Lady Bobcats volleyball team battled #5 Florida
Southern and #18 Nebraska-Omaha Saturday afternoon, falling 3-0 to
their nationally ranked opponents at the Florida Southern Classic.
The Lady Bobcats record now stands at 4-4, (1-0 Conference
Carolinas).
Host and fifth ranked Florida Southern cruised past the Lady
Bobcats 30-15, 30-17, 30-14 in the first match. Freshman Whitney
Kiser (Connelly Springs, NC) and senior Daviana Metti (Cordoba,
Argentina) paced the Lady Bobcats with five kills each with Metti
also registering a team high eight digs. Sophomore Trisha Reese
(Hanover, PA) handled setting duties, posting 17 assists.
In the afternoon, the Lady Bobcats tangled with #18
Nebraska-Omaha, falling 30-18, 30-14, 30-15. Metti (pictured) once
again led the Lady Bobcats in kills, posting six while senior Caty
Honey (Geneva, IL) chipped in four. Senior libero Dani Usedom
(Geneva, IL) turned in a strong performance in the Lady Bobcats
backcourt with ten digs, but the nationally ranked Mavericks were
too much for the nine time defending Conference Carolinas
Champions. Reese again took care of things up front, registering
16 assists.
The Lady Bobcats will now resume Conference Carolinas play at
home Wednesday evening. Converse College visits Williams Gymnasium
for a 7:00pm start.
