Gaffney, SC--The Lees-McRae Lady Bobcats remained perfect in
Conference Carolinas play, improving to 4-0 with a come from behind
win over Limestone College Saturday afternoon. The Lady Bobcats
improve to 8-7 overall while the Saints fall to 4-10 (2-1
Conference Carolinas).
After falling in games one and two, (23-30, 22-30) the nine time
defending conference champion Lady Bobcats regrouped to take game
three with a hard fought 30-25 win to stay alive and extend the
match. With a boisterous student section on hand, the Saints
pushed to end the match in game four, however the veteran
leadership of the Lady Bobcats came through to guide the visitors
to a 30-28 win and force a fifth and deciding game. With the
momentum in their favor, the Lady Bobcats bested the Saints 15-12
to remain undefeated in conference play.
Senior Daviana Metti (Cordoba, Argentina) finished with 21 kills
while freshman Whiteny Kiser (Connelly Springs, NC) and senior Caty
Honey (Geneva, IL) also scored in double digits with 15 and 12
kills respectively. Metti also turned in an impressive effort
defensively with a team high 19 kills while senior Dani Usedom
(Geneva, IL) and freshman Kell Bogdan (Leawood, KS) each had 18.
Sophomore Lauren Dickover (Las Vegas, NV) established a new career
high with 51 assists in the match and also added 15 kills. Junior
Natalie Burns (Orlando, FL) chipped in with three service aces
while sophomore Katie-Marie Legg (Alta Loma, CA) was a force at the
net picking up a solo block and establishing a career high seven
block assists.
The Saints were led offensively by Melissa Thomas with a match
high 23 kills while Ashley Hubbard and Jennifer O'Keefe added 15
and 10 respectively. Lynn Milam had a match high 24 digs for the
Saints on the defensive side of the ball while Chelsea Anthony kept
pace chipping in 23.
The Lady Bobcats will look to remain unbeaten in Conference
Carolinas play Monday evening when they travel to Charlotte, NC to
battle Queens for a 6:30pm contest.
