Gaffney, SC--The Lees-McRae Lady Bobcats dropped their third
straight road contest Wednesday afternoon, falling 3-1 to Limestone
College in Conference Carolinas action. The Lady Bobcats fall to
2-6 (1-2 Conference Carolinas) while the Lady Saints climbs to
3-5-1 (2-1-1).
Things started off well for the Lady Bobcats as sophomore
Maribeth Novak (Homer Glen, IL) scored her third goal of the
season, in just her second game. Senior Katharine Smith (Banner
Elk, NC) drew the assist on Novak's goal just over a minute into
the contest, giving the visitors the early lead. The Lady Saints
would come marching back, as Lee Cribb would even things up in the
20th minute before getting the go ahead goal in the 27th minute off
a cross from Kristina Silva. Alexis Brothers would round out the
scoring in the first half, giving Limestone the 3-1 lead on a fast
break in the 40th minute.
The Lady Saints used home field advantage to its fullest
potential, outshooting the Lady Bobcats 19-6 and holding a 3-1 edge
in corner kicks.
Freshman Brittany Bolton (Roanoke,VA) picked up ten saves for
the Lady Bobcats while Limestone's Brittany Clark had a pair.
The Lady Bobcats will look to get back into the win column this
weekend when they host Barton College this Saturday at 5:00pm. The
game will be the first in a doubleheader with the men's team and be
a part of Lees-McRae's Family Day.
