BANNER ELK, N.C. - Melissa Horn scored in the 82nd minute to
give the Lees-McRae College Lady Bobcats a 1-0 victory over
Randolph-Macon College Sunday at Tate Field in a non-conference
match.
Horn (Pasadena, Md.) collected a rebound off of Randolph-Macon's
keeper and put the ball away. The rebound came off of a Maribeth
Novak (Homer Glen, Ill.) shot attempt.
Lees-McRae outshot Randolph-Macon 27-4 and had 15 shots on goal
compared to two.
"I'm pleased to see us bounce back with a win today against
Randolph-Macon," head coach Renee Lopez said. "Since we lost to
them 2-1 in overtime last year, it was a great victory especially
for the returners. I'm pleased to see our heart and desire to
persevere and finish the game!"
With the win Lees-McRae improves to 9-5 overall, while
Randolph-Macon falls to 7-6.
The Lady Bobcats will travel to Queens University of Charlotte
Wednesday, October15. Kick off is set for 5 p.m. for the
Conference Carolinas match.
