BANNER ELK, N.C. - Freshman Lauren Hall had a career high 14
kills, but the Lees-McRae College Lady Bobcats fell to the Pfeiffer
University Lady Falcons 3-2 (18-25, 28-26, 25-23, 23-25, 6-15) in a
five set thriller Tuesday night in Williams Gymnasium in a
Conference Carolinas match.
The Lady Bobcats fell behind after a set one loss 18-25 but
rallied to take sets two and three 28-26 and 25-23. Up 23-21 in
set four the Lady Bobcats gave up five straight points to lose the
set 23-25. In set five, the Lady Falcons jumped out to a 3-8 lead
and finished the match with a 15-6 win.
Hall (Enka, N.C.) led the Lees-McRae offense with 14 kills on 35
attempts with only three errors. Natalie Burns (Orlando, Fla.)
contributed 12 kills, and Megan Epperson (St. John, Ind.) had 11
kills, 23 digs, three solo blocks, and four service aces. Trisha
Reese (Hanover, Penn.) dished out 22 assists, and Lauren Dickover
(Las Vegas, Nev.) passed out 20 assists. Whitney Kiser (Connelly
Springs, N.C.) had four and a half blocks.
Brittany Dickens had 18 kills and three errors in 32 attempts for
Pfeiffer. Lauren Spiotta and Petra Ljubicic had 17 kills,
and Morgan Liebert handed out 57 assists. Victoria Parrish and
Dickens had three and half total blocks.
With the loss the Lady Bobcats fall to 14-12 overall and 12-4 in
the conference, while the Lady Falcons improve to 23-4 overall and
15-1 in conference.
The Lady Bobcats take the court against St. Andrews October 31st at
7 p.m. in Williams Gymnasium in their next match.
