BANNER ELK, N..C. - For the second straight match freshman
right-side hitter, Lauren Hall had a career high in kills with 18,
but the Lees-McRae Lady Bobcats lost, 3-2 (28-26, 18-25, 21-25,
25-19, 11-15) to the St. Andrews Presbyterian Lady Knights Friday
night in Williams Gymnasium in a conference match.
The Bobcats won the first set 28-26, but fell in the next two
sets 18-25 and 21-25. In set four the Bobcats jumped out to an
early lead and held it to win 25-19, but fell behind 7-3 in set
five and couldn't rally finally losing the match 11-15.
Hall (Enka, N.C.) led the team with her second straight career high
performance. Megan Epperson (St. John, Ind.) had 12 kills and two
service aces for the Lady Bobcats. Whitney Kiser (Leawood, Kan.)
had 10 kills and four and half blocks. Kell Bodgan (Connelly
Springs, N.C.) picked up 31 digs to record her second 30-dig
match. Trisha Reese (Hanover, Penn.) handed out 31 assists.
Galina Podolsky had 15 kills, 17 digs and five total blocks to lead
the Lady Knights. Heather Bolwerk and Kelly Williams had 12 kills
apiece. Bolwerk also recorded four service aces and 16 digs, and
Williams had three service aces. Erica Davis recorded 13 digs.
Jamie Hayes dished out 40 assists.
With the loss, the Lady Bobcats fall to 15-13 overall and 12-5 in
the conference, while the Lady Knights improve to 10-17 overall and
7-9 in the conference.
Lees-McRae returns to action Saturday on senior day against Coker
College at 2 p.m.
