WILSON, NC--Four players scored in double figures on Senior
Night Saturday to lead Barton College to an 82-72 conquest of
Lees-McRae. The victory vaulted the Bulldogs, defending NCAA D-II
National Champs, to 17-8 overall and 13-5 in Conference Carolinas
while Lees-McRae exited at 5-21 (4-15).
Barton broke open a close game late in the first half and was
never threatened in the second half, when Lees-McRae could only get
as close as eight points with 1:17 left. Errol Frails led the
Bulldogs with 20 points, followed by Jeff Dalce with a career-high
14, L.J. Dunn with 11 and Bobby Buffaloe with 10.
A quartet of freshman led the Bobcats as Nick DeSchepper
(Fishers, IN) and Raysean Hairston (Elizabethtown, NC) tallied 15
points apiece, while Aaron Willey (Kingsport, TN) and Aaron
Woodacre (Piney Flats, TN) added 13 and 12 points respectively.
Barton shot 30-of-61 (49 percent) from the floor and LMC
finished 21-of-58 for 36 percent. Barton dominated the rebounding
46-33 and registered 11 steals, including four by Dalce. Barton
also outscored LMC 40-22 in the paint.
The Bobcats will conclude their season next Friday February 29th
when they travel to Due West, SC to take on Erskine College in
Conference Carolinas action. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30pm.
