BANNER ELK, NC--The Lees-McRae College Bobcats snapped a five
game losing streak Sunday afternoon topping Briarcliffe College
16-5 in non-conference men's lacrosse action at Tate Field. The
Bobcats improve to 2-5 while the Seahawks move to 1-9.
Junior Kirk Rogers (Casselbury, FL) picked up a career high
seven points firing a hat trick and registering four helpers in the
contest. Sophomore Brandon Marks (Durham, NC) chipped in a game
high four goals for his second consecutive multiple goal game while
classmate Matt Markey (Burlington, NC) extended his goal scoring
streak to three games picking up a pair. Freshman Landon Guntman
(Temecula, CA) recorded the first multiple goal game of his young
career scoring a pair on three shots. Junior Madison Thompson
(Durham, NC), sophomore Landon Young (Saskatoon, SK), and freshman
Ryan LeBlanc (Naples, FL), Josh Lucero (Encinitas, CA) and Nathan
Hammer (Cary, NC) registered singles to round out the Bobcats
scoring.
Rob Ponzio and Joe Sperduto each buried a pair for the Seahawks
while John Manzella added a single.
Lees-McRae freshman goalie Andy Nesdill (Phoenix, AZ) registered
a career high 14 saves in the Bobcats goal, evening his record to
1-1 on the season.
Devin Baker was credited with 11 saves in the Seahawks goal.
Rogers' seven point effort moves him into a tie for fourth place
with Josh Spriggs '05 on the Bobcats all-time scoring charts with
67 career points.
Up next, the Bobcats will host #8 Wingate University at Tate
Field Wednesday April 2. Game time is scheduled for 4:00pm.
