MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. - Richard Guffens scored two goals as the No.
1 Lees-McRae remained unbeaten with a 3-0 win over the Mount Olive
College Trojans Saturday night at Amon Field.
Lees-McRae (12-0-0, 8-0-0) got on the scoreboard in the 14th
minute when Jamie Price crossed the ball into the box from the
right corner to Richard Guffens, who one-timed the ball to give the
Bobcats a 1-0 lead. Mount Olive stayed within a goal until the 41st
minute when Berin Boracic juggled the ball on the left sideline,
then crossed to Guffens, who scored his second goal of the match
and put Lees-McRae up 2-0 at halftime.
Mount Olive was outshot only 6-4 in the first half, but
Lees-McRae outshot the Trojans 12-2 in the second half.
Lees-McRae capped the scoring in the 68th minute when Luke Perry
played a service into the box to Jamie Bladen, who was open for a
10-yard shot inside the left post.
Sean Paradise had two saves for Lees-McRae.
Lees-McRae travels to Anderson Tuesday at 6 p.m. for a
Conference Carolinas contest.
