GREENWOOD, S.C. - The Lees-McRae College women's volleyball fell
3-2 (25-23, 33-31, 26-28, 20-25, 15-13) to host Lander Friday in
the first match of Lander University's Dig Pink Tournament, but the
rallied in the second match for a 3-2 (25-14, 18-25, 25-17, 25-27,
15-9) win over Francis Marion.
In the first match against Lander, junior middle hitter Whitney
Justice had 22 kills on 43 attempts with only five errors. It was a
season-high for Justice. Freshman outside hitter Taylor Clendenin
chipped in with 16 kills, and sophomore outside hitter Megan
Epperson had 12 kills. Freshman defensive specialist Luana Rocha
had 34 digs. Katie-Marie Legg had a match high eight total blocks
all eight were block assists. Megan Mitchell had 49 assists and
two service aces.
In the second match, Justice had 17 kills and seven total
blocks, two solo blocks and five block assists. Epperson and
Clendenin had 11 kills apiece. Trisha Reese passed out 44 assists,
and Rocha and 36 digs for her second 30-dig match of the day and
fourth of the season.
With the two match split, the Lady Bobcats are 18-5 overall.
The Bobcats return to action for day two of the tournament with
matches against UNC-Pembroke and USC-Aiken.
