BANNER ELK, N.C. - Vickie Rich notched two early goals to set
the tone as the Lees-McRae College Lady Bobcats women's soccer team
(6-4, 3-1) notched a 5-0 win over the Conference Carolinas opponent
the St. Andrews Presbyterian College Lady Knights (4-5-1, 2-2-1)
Saturday at Tate Field.
Rich scored the first goal of the match in the 7th minute when
she beat two defenders off the dribble and slipped a shot past the
keeper.
She added her second just four minutes later to give the Lady
Bobcats a 2-0 lead. Rich received a long pass from
Brooke Santerre and finished for the goal.
Lees-McRae added their third goal in the 52nd minute Shaina
Ormsby found Emily Jones on the back post with a cross for the goal
to make it 3-0.
The Lady Bobcats final two goals come on unassisted
goals. The first came when Brook Santerre beat two
defenders and blasted a long shot for the goal, and the second game
when Aerial Gregston struck a bouncing ball that beat the keeper
for Lees-McRae's fifth and final goal.
Rich now has a team-high 11 goals and 24 points on the
season.
Brittany Bolton earned the shutout, her fourth of the season,
between the pipes for the Lady Bobcats with two saves.
Lees-McRae outshot St. Andrews 12-3.
The Lady Bobcats return to action Tuesday, October 6th at
5:30 p.m. against Belmont Abbey
