BANNER ELK, N.C. - Berin Boracic, one goal and two assists, was
involved in all three of the No. 2 Lees-McRae College Bobcats
(10-0, 6-0) goals Tuesday night in the 3-0 win over the Belmont
Abbey Crusaders (5-5-1, 3-4) in Conference Carolinas men's soccer
action at Tate Field.
Boracic, who currently sits eighth in the NCAA in points per
game and goals per game, had four total points tonight. On the
season the former All-American has 11 goals and five assists for 27
total points.
Boracic's first goal came in the 11th minute when he gathered a
loose ball and sent a bending ball inside the near post from
20-yards to give the Bobcats a 1-0 lead.
Luke Perry notched the Bobcats second goal in the 24th minute to
make it 2-0. Jamie Price sent a cross from the far side into the
box where Boracic laid it off to Perry for the goal.
Richard Guffens, who leads the NCAA in assists per game, scored
the third and final goal of the match in at the 30-minute mark.
Boracic sent a cross to Dale Parker who flicked it to Guffen's head
for the goal.
Sean Paradise earned the win in net with one save, while Jon Max
Bolling had the loss despite eight saves and quality work in net
for The Abbey.
Lees-McRae held a definitive shot advantage, 24-5, and corner
kick advantage, 8-4, in the match.
The Bobcats will travel to Anderson Saturday at 7 p.m. for their
next match.
