BOONE, N.C. - Adam McFerran scored 16 points and grabbed six
rebounds in the Lees-McRae College's season-opening loss to
Division I Appalachian State, 77-44, Tuesday night in men's
basketball action.
The Bobcats stayed with the Mountaineers in the first half tying
the game at eight early in the first half. The Bobcats cut the
lead to nine, 33-24, with 5:26 remaining in the first half, but the
Mountaineers closed the half on 10-2 run to take 43-26 lead into
the locker rooms.
After the break, App State started off on a 24-7 run to extend
the lead to 57-28 with 12:57 remaining in the half. The
Mountaineers never looked back and control the remaining 12 minutes
to win 77-44.
McFerran's 16 points and six boards led the team in both
categories. Sam Youse added 13 points, and Jesse Hoots had four
assists for the Bobcats.
Lees-McRae will player another Division I Southern Conference
opponent, Wofford College, Thursday for their next game
