ANDERSON, S.C. - Megan Epperson and Whitney Justice had 14 kills
apiece as the Lees-McRae College Lady Bobcats women's volleyball
team defeated the Anderson University Trojans 3-1 (25-22, 27-25,
25-13, 25-17) Friday night to clinch the Conference Carolinas
Regular Season Championship.
The Bobcats improve to 25-5 overall and 16-1 in the conference
and secure their third regular season title in the last four
years.
Epperson and Justice's 14 kills led the Lady Bobcats
offensively. Justice's kills came on 32 attempts with only two
errors for a .312 hitting percentage. Katie-Marie Legg followed 12
kills on 30 attempts with two errors for a .333 hitting percentage,
and Taylor Clendenin had ten kills on 16 attempts with one error
for staggering .562 hitting percentage. Megan Mitchell handed out
45 assists, and Luana Rocha collected 22 digs. Trisha Reese had
two service aces, and Legg paced the Lady Bobcats at the net with
five total blocks, one solo and four assists.
After two tightly contested sets, 25-22 and 25-27, Lees-McRae
won the final two sets by a margin of 20 points to earn the
win.
Lees-McRae will travel to Due West, S.C. Saturday for a 1 p.m.
match against Erksine. The match is the final regular season match
of the season.
