MISENHEIMER, N.C. - Seven different Lees-McRae College Bobcats
men's lacrosse team members scored in their 9-8 double overtime
loss to the Pfeiffer University Falcons Wednesday afternoon in a
Conference Carolinas clash.
The Bobcats scored two goals in less than 30 seconds to tie the
game at eight and force overtime. Derin Vacca scored the first
goal with just under a minute left in the game, and Neil Sleight
added the second goal 30 seconds later for the tie.
Neither team was able to score a goal in the first overtime period
so the teams moved into the second overtime. Seven seconds into
the second overtime period the Falcons scored to take the 9-8
win.
Kyle Ficken, who had one goal and one assist, and Vacca, who had
two goals, led the Bobcats with two points apiece. Vacca was the
only Bobcat to score two goals in the game. Sleight, Landon Young,
John White, Kirk Rodgers and Matt Markey all scored goals for the
Bobcats.
Andy Nesdill took the loss between the pipes for the Bobcats
despite earning a career high 23 saves.
Pfeiffer outshot Lees-McRae 42-26 and 32-13 shots on goal.
Lees-McRae is off until March 11th when they travel to take on Mars
Hill College.
