BANNER ELK, N.C. - The St. Andrews Presbyterian College Knights
moved past the Lees-McRae College Bobcats 75-60 Saturday afternoon
in a Conference Carolinas game in Williams Gymnasium.
Aaron Woodacre led Lees-McRae with 17 points. Stephen Haymer
scored 11 points and grabbed nine rebounds. Kyle Boardman missed a
double-double by a point with nine points and 12 rebounds.
The two teams traded the lead until the Bobcats took a three-point
lead, 12-9, on a Dairl Scott field goal with 7:19 showing on the
clock in the half.
But St. Andrews ignited with a 21-2 run to take a 30-14 lead with
just over two minutes remaining in the half.
Woodacre sank a three right before the half to cut the lead to
36-20 heading into the break.
After the break, the Bobcats cut the lead to 10, 42-32, on another
Woodacre three with just under 15 minutes remaining.
Seven minutes later, the lead was pushed back to 15, 54-39, and the
lead was at its highest margin of the game with 2:33 on the clock,
70-50.
The Bobcats ended the game on a 10-5 run to cut the lead to 15,
75-60.
The Bobcats shot a dismal 29 percent from the field and 15 percent
from behind the arc, while the Knights were 44 percent from the
floor and 30 percent from three.
Lees-McRae will host Limestone College Monday, February 9th at 5:30
p.m. for their next game.
