BANNER ELK, N.C. - Kirk Rogers had six points, two goals and
four assists, for the Lees-McRae College Bobcats, but the Saint
Andrews Presbyterian Knights pulled out a 10-8 win in men's
Conference Carolinas lacrosse action at Tate Field Saturday
afternoon.
Rogers, who saw his first action since an injury sidelined him on
February 25th, contributed on six of the Bobcat's eight goals.
Tripp Adams reached a milestone with his first career goal for the
Bobcats. Rogers was the only Bobcat with multiple goals. Adams
was joined by Landon Guntman, Danny Ives, Kyle Ficken, Ryan LeBlanc
and Nathan Hammer scored one goal apiece. Neil Sleight and Edward
Dolan led the team with five groundballs. Bryan Thompson, Michael
LaSalle and Branden Snyder caused two turnovers apiece to lead the
team.
For St. Andrews, Ryan Hoover notched five goals, and Nick Levnes
had two goals. Kyle Carnaggio had three assists and Levnes had two
assists. Ethan Young had a staggering 14 groundballs to lead the
Knights.
In goal Patrick Wade earned the win for the Knights with 12 saves,
while Andy Nesdill was saddled with the loss with nine saves.
The Bobcats took a 5-2 lead after the first quarter, but St.
Andrews rallied and scored four unanswered second quarter goals to
take a 6-5 halftime lead. Both teams added a goal in the third,
but the Saints won the fourth 3-2 to earn the 10-8 win.
Lees-McRae outshot the Knights 38-26, but St. Andrews won the
groundball battle 43-38. The Knights won 18 of the 22
face-offs.
The Bobcats will begin their Conference Carolinas Tournament for
their next game April 14th.
