HIGH POINT, N.C. - Junior Amanda Dodson was awarded First Team
All-Conference honors for her efforts on the mound for the
Lees-McRae women's softball team this season as announced by
Conference Carolinas officials at the league's softball banquet
Thursday evening. The banquet kicked off the Conference Carolinas
Women's Softball Championship Tournament hosted by Coker College at
Byerly Park in Hartsville, S.C.
Head coaches of all member institutions nominate and then vote on
the award winners which represent the best of the best for
Conference Carolinas in 2009. The Lady Bobcats finished 7th in
league play with an 8-10 conference record and 20-18 overall,
giving the Lady Bobcats their first over .500 season since
1999.
Amanda Dodson of Walnut Cove, N.C. was selected All-Conference
First Team. Dodson earned both a Conference Carolinas Pitcher of
the Week and a Conference Carolinas Player of the Week award this
season for her efforts on the mound, at the plate and in the
field. Dodson had a 1.19 era in conference play, striking out 71
batters in 82.2 innings of work. She also touted a .395 batting
average, placing her in the top ten in the conference, and had five
homeruns and 19 RBI on the year.
