SUMTER, S.C. - The No. 1 seed Lees-McRae College Bobcats advance
to the finals with a 5-3 win over No. 5 seed Barton College
Bulldogs in the Conference Carolinas Men's Tennis Tournament
Saturday afternoon.
The Bobcats went down 2-1 after doubles but rallied back to win
four singles matches to earn the win. Travis VanHoy and Shaun
Sumner won the only Bobcat point in doubles with an 8-3
victory.
In singles, Alek Mojski won his match at number two with a 6-2, 6-3
win, and Sumner followed with a 6-0, 7-5 win at number three.
Lees-McRae earned their final two points from Tyler Grove with his
6-1, 6-2 win at number five and from Steve Karendal with his 6-2,
6-1 win at number six.
The Bobcats will advance to play No. 2 seed Anderson Sunday morning
at 10:00 a.m. for the tournament title. The Bobcats are looking to
take both the regular season title and the tournament title in the
2009 season.
