BREVARD, N.C. - The Lees-McRae College Lady Bobcats women's
soccer team fell in overtime to the Brevard College Tornados 4-3
Tuesday night in nonconference action, despite a Melissa Horn first
half hat trick.
The Bobcats got on the scoreboard first in the first half when
Horn scored off a Vickie Rich corner kick in the second
minute.
Brevard answered in the 24th minute on a
Bailey Varley goal to tie the match at
one.
Horn scored two goals in the 43rd and 44th minute to give the
Bobcats a 3-1 lead. The first of Horn's two goals came
on a Brook Santerre assist. The second goal was
unassisted.
In the second half, Brevard's Varley cut the lead to 3-2 with
a goal in the 55th minute. Ten minutes later Nikki
Peacock tied the match at three. Neither team could find the back
of the net in the remaining minutes forcing the match to
overtime.
Two minutes into the second overtime period Varley notched her third goal of the match to give Brevard the 4-3 win.
The two teams were almost even in the shot category. Lees-McRae had 14 shots, while Brevard had 13 shots.
Horn recorded her three goals on three shots for the Bobcats. She also earned six total points in the match.
The Lady Bobcats next action will come when they play Clayton State at Converse College in Spartanburg, S.C. at 3 p.m. on Saturday, September 5th.
