GAFFNEY, S.C. - David Palmer's goal in the 76th minute boosted
the No. 6 Lees-McRae College Bobcats (5-0, 2-0) men's soccer team
past the Limestone College Saints (4-3, 1-1) Saturday night in a
Conference Carolinas match.
After a scoreless first half that was delayed because of
lightening, Richard Guffens scored the game's first goal in the
60th minute to give the Bobcats a 1-0 lead. Guffens'
goal was an unassisted goal, and his second goal of the
year.
Limestone tied the match three minutes later when Liam Garner
scored on a cross from Stuart Wright.
Palmer's game winner, his second game winner of the season
and third goal of the season, was also unassisted.
The Saints held the 19-13 advantage on shots, but the Bobcats had
seven corner kick chances compared to Limestone's five.
Bobcat goalkeeper, Sean Paradise, made nine saves to earn the
win, while Mark Davidson took the loss despite making seven
saves.
The Bobcats travel to UNC-Pembroke Wednesday, September 23rd
for their next match.
