HARTSVILLE, S.C. - Lees-McRae's Berin Boracic notched all three
goals, as the No. 4 Bobcats defeated the No. 23 Coker Cobras 3-1 on
Saturday afternoon in Conference Carolinas men's soccer.
The victory keeps the Bobcats perfect on the year, 7-0 overall
and 3-0 in conference, while the loss gives the Cobras their first
of the season and drops them to 7-1-1 overall and 2-1 in the
conference.
Boracic
notched his first goal of the afternoon at the 29-minute mark with
a blast from 25-yards. Less than ten minutes later, Boracic struck
again, this time he took a shot just inside the penalty area that
tipped off a Coker defender past the Cobra keeper James Sweeny
Lees-McRae took a 2-0 lead into the half.
After
the break, the Cobras got on the board with a goal from senior Mike
Crook
in the 49th minute off a penalty kick.
Boracic
secured the Bobcat victory in the 61st minute with his third goal
of the match, another defection off a Cobra defender.
Sean
Paradise made three saves in the win for the Bobcats, and Sweeny
made three saves in the loss for the Cobras.
Lees-McRae held a slight advantage on shots 12-9.
Boracic
has now scored the Bobcats last five goals in two games, and leads
the team with eight goals, including three game-winning
goals.
Lees-McRae returns to action September 30th when they host
Barton at Tate Field.
