BANNER ELK, N.C. - Conference Carolinas Player of the Week,
Berin Boracic, scored two goals in the second half to give the No.
3 Lees-McRae College Bobcats (8-0, 4-0) men's soccer team a 2-0 win
over the Barton College Bulldogs (3-7, 1-3) Wednesday night in a
conference match at Tate Field.
Boracic has scored the last seven of Lees-McRae's goals in three
games. He notched two last week against UNC-Pembroke
and a hat trick against Coker.
His first goal of the night came on a free kick in the 51st
minute from 35-yards. Boracic sent a bending ball over
the wall and tucked it in the near post to give the Bobcats a 1-0
lead.
He added the insurance goal in the 70th minute when Luke
Staats made a run down the left wing and sent a cross to the feet
of Richard Guffens. Guffens laid the ball off to
Boracic who struck it for the goal to give the game the final score
of 2-0.
Sean Paradise earned the shutout with four saves, while Brian
Riesenberg made seven saves in the losing effect.
Lees-McRae outshot Barton 22-6, 9-4 on goal. The
Bobcats also held a 7-2 corner kick advantage.
Lees-McRae will take the field again Saturday, October 3rd
against St. Andrews at 4 p.m. on Homecoming weekend.
