BOCA RATON, FLA. -The Lynn University Fighting Knights won game
one with a 20-6, but the Lees-McRae College Lady Bobcats rallied in
game two with a 2-1 Tuesday afternoon.
All nine LU starters collected a hit with eight logging at least
two. Junior Brittany Gross broke the school record for hits in a
game by going 5-for-5 with a four runs scored, also a Blue and
White record.
Rachael Larkins added four hits in the win, including three in
the fourth inning alone, while Kathleen Smith, Nikki Pallister
Elizabeth Hawkins each chipped in three base knocks. Smith and
Callie Darlin both had four RBIs while every player drove in a
run.
Kaufman tossed a complete game six-hitter with four
strikeouts.
The Lady Bobcats would settle down and turn game two into a
pitching duel. A two-run fifth innings would be all the Bobcats
needed as Lees-McRae held off a late LU rally to salvage the
doubleheader split.
Bryce Campbell had her best outing of the year by allowing four
hits in complete game win. She only had one walk and recorded
three strikeouts.
Darlin pitched well and picked up the loss without surrendering
an earned run. She struck out seven while allowing just five
hits.
