HIGH POINT, N.C. --- Lees-McRae College junior
Lindsey Huntsinger (Asheville, N.C.) has been honored as the first
Conference Carolinas Softball Player of the Week of the 2011
season, announced league officials Tuesday.
The Asheville, N.C. native delivered an impressive debut with
the Bobcats on Sunday against Fayetteville State. Huntsinger lead
LMC to a season-opening sweep with four hits, two RBI, and three
stolen bases. She recorded her first hit of the season in game one,
lacing a single to left in the sixth after driving in the deciding
run in the first with a sacrifice.
Huntsinger added to her day in the night cap, going 3-for-4 with
a double, two RBI, and two runs scored to pace the Bobcats to an
8-2 win. She reached base in each of her first three at-bats,
including an RBI double during the Bobcats' four-run fifth inning.
The Bobcats stand at 3-1 overall and 0-0 in the conference entering
the week.
Lees-McRae returns to the diamond on Tuesday afternoon when the
Bobcats travel to Jefferson City, Tenn. to take on Carson-Newman
College in a non-conference doubleheader. First pitch is slated for
