BALTIMORE --- The No. 4 Le Moyne College men's
lacrosse team held Lees-McRae College scoreless until early in the
fourth quarter en route to a 20-2 victory in non-conference neutral
site action on Friday afternoon.
Le Moyne (2-1) outshot the Bobcats (0-6) by a 65-14 margin,
including a 39-6 advantage in shots on goal, while winning 21-of-26
face-offs on the day. The Dolphins also held a 42-26 advantage in
ground balls while converting 3-of-6 extra-man chances.
Jack Venditti (Baldwinsville, N.Y.) paced the Dolphins with four
goals, as Matt Chadderdon (Auburn, N.Y.), Sean Connors (Camillus,
N.Y.), Kam Bumpus (Marshfield, Mass.), Chris Button (Fairport,
N.Y.), and Rob Kunz (Watertown, N.Y.) each added a pair of tallies.
Nick DiSarro (Niskayuna, N.Y.) also chipped in two assists for Le
Moyne as Jeff White (Buffalo, N.Y.) made the start between the
pipes for the Dolphins, making one save and holding the Bobcats
scoreless in the first half to earn the victory.
Brett Yusiewicz (Chapel Hill, N.C.) and Quinn Struble (Durham,
N.C.) each tallied a goal for the Bobcats, as Andy Nesdill
(Phoenix, Ariz.) made 16 saves in 49 minutes of work in goal for
Lees-McRae. Mike Fahey (Buffalo, N.Y.) made three saves between the
pipes for the Bobcats over the final 11 minutes of play.
Le Moyne opened the game with a pair of tallies in the first
period, taking a 2-0 advantage into the second quarter after
Chadderon's first goal of the season with just under four minutes
left on the clock in the first. The Dolphins broke the game open in
the second, scoring eight goals to take a 10-0 lead into the
intermission following a trio of strikes in the final 1:09 of the
period.
The Bobcats got on the board early in the fourth when Yusiewicz
tallied his third goal of the season at the 11:40 mark. Struble
added his fourth of the season two and a half minutes later to cap
the Bobcat scoring on the day.
Lees-McRae returns to action on Wednesday, Mar. 23 when the
Bobcats travel to Mars Hill, N.C. to take on Mars Hill College in a
4 p.m. matchup.
