KISSIMMEE, Fla. --- The Lees-McRae College
softball team dropped a pair of contests to open the Rebel Spring
Games on Monday, falling to Minnesota State University-Mankato by a
score of 12-0 in five innings before Southwest Minnesota State
University rallied for a 6-1 victory over the Bobcats.
Lees-McRae (5-14) tallied seven hits on the day, including five
base knocks against Southwest Minnesota (3-0). Holli Crickenberger
(Boydton, Va.), Kierstie Moon (Oxford, Ga.), Laurel Gregg (Mars
Hill, N.C.), Lori Fulmer (Prosperity, S.C.), Karli Robb (Hayes,
Va.), Kim Coley (Marion, N.C.), and Alison Armstrong (Bellingham,
Mass.) each recorded a hit on the day, as Crickenberger drove in
her seventh run of the season.
Gregg got the nod against Mankato (10-4), tossing five innings
and allowing two earned runs on seven hits while walking seven.
Crickenberger took the ball against Southwest Minnesota (, allowing
one earned run and striking out five in six innings of work.

Mankato struck first in the top of the first inning, plating
four runs on two hits and three Bobcat miscues to take an early 4-0
lead. The Mavericks added one run in the second and two in the
third to push the margin to 7-0, before stretching the lead to 11-0
with four tallies in the fourth. Mankato added one more tally in
the fifth to equal the final margin of 12-0.
Game Two: Southwest Minnesota State 6, Lees-McRae 1 (Box Score)
Lees-McRae got on the board first in the top of the opening
inning, taking an early 1-0 lead on an RBI double by Crickenberger
that scored Moon from second. The Mustangs answered with a run in
the second, evening the tally at 1-1 by taking advantage of two
hits and a Bobcat miscue.
Southwest Minnesota continued the rally with four runs in the
bottom of the fifth, taking a 5-1 lead on four hits and two LMC
errors before equaling the final margin with a run in the sixth.
The Bobcats started to rally in the top of the seventh, as Gregg
led off with a single up the middle. The Mustangs quickly quelled
the rally with three straight outs to seal the victory.
Lees-McRae returns to the diamond on Tuesday when the Bobcats
take on Concordia University - St. Paul and Ferris State University
at 9 a.m. and 1 p.m., respectively, on the second day of the Rebel
Spring Games.
