LMC Cycling Performs at High Level at Mars Hill CX

MARS HILL, N.C. --- The Lees-McRae cycling program put on an impressive performance at the Mars Hill CX over the weekend in Mars Hill, N.C.

Junior Gunnar Bergey (Ledrach, Pa.) led the charge for LMC in the Men's A race by placing fourth while teammate Matthew Clements (New Market, Md.) finished sixth.

Sophomore Samuel Dobrozsi (Loveland, Ohio) and senior Jonathan Luck (Bainbridge, Pa.) enjoyed top-10 performances while taking eighth and tenth, respectively.

Sophomore Christopher Meacham (Jamison, Pa.) and freshman Elliot Baring (Cumming, Ga.) claimed 14th and 15th.

"We are happy with the results from our first weekend of collegiate cyclocross.  The course at Mars Hill is very selective with a tough climb, but we had four men and two women in the top 10.  Our conference has some of the top cyclocross racers in the country," said Director and Head Coach of Cycling Tim Hall. "We know if we are battling them for placings, then we are in very good company."

Sophomore Emma Klingaman (Idyllwild, Calif.) notched a top-five finish after swiping fifth in the Women's A contest. LMC's Mackenzie Filippi (Cary, N.C.) continued her storied career by taking ninth while junior Kaitlyn Lawrence (Emmaus, Pa.).

In the Men's B ride, junior Jose Avila (Miami, Fla.) earned bronze with a third place finish. Senior Joe Liston (Limerick, Pa.) was nearly as impressive by taking fourth.

Junior Eli Wemyss (Cedar Hill, Tenn.) finished 17th.

Hall's squads will participate at the King University CX in Bristol, Tenn. Saturday Nov. 22.
