Parks Precise; LMC Falls to No. 3 Limestone, 22-4

BANNER ELK, N.C. --- Lees-McRae freshman Louis Parks tallied two goals and an assist, but LMC fell to No. 3 Limestone, 22-4, in Conference Carolina play Tuesday afternoon at Tate Field in Banner Elk, N.C.

The Saints (11-1, 2-0 CC) had a trio of players notch hat tricks while Kyle Rhatigan chipped in a game-high three assists. The Bobcats (0-10, 0-3) forced 11 turnovers while goalie Benjamin Shifflett (Clemmons, N.C.) amassed 11 saves.

LC's Brendan Shea led both squads with six goals and nine shots.

The Saints' Todd Nakasuji, Shea and Rhatigan jump started the LC offense while it sprinted out a 9-0 lead in the first 10 minutes of play.

Sophomore Nick Meyer (St. Louis, Mo.) snagged a pass from Parks and buried it to put LMC on the board with 4:12 remaining in the opening quarter.

LC responded with a 9-0 run, while Shea and Nick Schmell netted two goals apiece over the next 15 minutes.

Freshman Treven Salminen (Lynden, Wash.) showed why he's a part of the Finnish National Team with a nifty move to best LC's Dustyn Lyons at the 7:37 mark of the third quarter.

Dustin Barrow (Columbia, S.C.) found Parks with 3:14 left in the game before Dalton Lamb (Clemmons, N.C.) duplicated his teammates' success with an assist on Parks second goal in the waning seconds of the game.

11 different Saints recorded a goal while holding a slim advantage in ground balls (23-17).

Sophomore Alex Poole (Winston-Salem, N.C.) led the team with three groundballs.

LMC will travel to Rome, Ga. to battle Shorter April 5 at 1 p.m.
